President of Pakistan Arif Alvi, Defence Minister Pervez Khattak test positive for covid-19 third wave.

Pakistan’s President Arif Alvi has tested positive for COVID-19, he said on Twitter on Monday, after receiving his first dose of a vaccine.

He tweeted “I have tested positive for Covid-19. May Allah have mercy on all Covid affectees.”

He added “Had 1st dose of vaccine، but antibodies start developing after 2nd dose that was due in a week. Please continue to be careful.”

“Had (first) dose of vaccine, but antibodies start developing after (second) dose that was due in a week. Please continue to be careful,” he said.

Meanwhile, Sindh Governor Imran Ismail announced that Defence Minister Khattak had also been diagnosed with the virus. “Get well soon PK,” wrote Ismail, who himself contracted and recovered from the virus last year.

Coronavirus cases are rising quickly in the South Asian nation and Prime Minister Imran Khan tested positive two days after receiving his first vaccine dose earlier this month with officials saying he had likely been infected before being vaccinated.

Wife of President Arif Alvi wrote in a tweet ” Alhamdulillah President @ArifAlvi has mild symptoms but is in good spirits.”

“I had my test done too & am negative & quarantining. We had our vaccine 1st dose done but it takes time to build immunity & I request everyone to please continue to get vaccinations done & practice SOPs.” She added.

Politicians, diplomats and followers are wishing the president get well soon on twitter.
